The following photographs and computer-modelled images illustrate the plans for the new kitchen.
The kitchen will be extended into the existing store room, with double doors leading into it. Food preparation facilities will be at one end, with beverage preparation at the other by the hatch.
Handwash facilities and a tall fridge/freezer will be located centrally.
Cleaning Cupboard
A 400mm full height broom cupboard will provide storage for kitchen-only cleaning equipment and consumables.
Fridge/freezer
A full height built-in NEFF fridge/freezer will offer 218L of fridge capacity and 58L in the freezer. Annual running cost is 275kWh – approximately £30 – allowing it to be left on permanently.
Beverage preparation
A 2m worksurface will run between the fridge and the hatch for preparation of beverages. Four drawer line untits underneath will provide storage for crockery and cutlery. Two double sockets above the worksurface will be available for coffee machines etc.
Serving hatch
The hatch will be widened and increased in height by approximately 180mm to create a more open ‘bar’ appearance. The hatch door will be replaced by cream electrically operated shutters. The counter will be replaced by a varnished hardwood bar. The worksurface will continue round under the counter to a shallow depth, with shelving under for cups, mugs or glasses.
Wall Kettle
A plumbed-in wall kettle will provide continuous supplies of boiling water in safety. Its 5L capacity will deliver up to 165 cups per hour. A drip tray set into the worksurface will provide drainage. A timeswitch will switch the kettle off automatically after a two hour period (but can be reset for a further period for longer events).
Worksurface under the window
A 2.6m worksurface under the window will provide more area for food preparation and plating up. Storage under will include two full height cupboards, a set of wire drawers, and a pull-out waste bin.
Hand wash basin
A basin for hand washing only will be installed centrally to encourage its use! An infrared tap will deliver hot water without the need for handling.
Commercial dishwasher
A commercial dishwasher will allow a set of plates, cutlery or glasses to be washed hygienically in 3 minutes.
Sink
A sink with one and a half bowls and drainer will be located under the window. Hot water will be provided by an instant water heater. A corner unit with pull-out storage will make best use of the corner space.
Wall unit
A 1000mm wall unit in the corner with a rising door will provide space for crockery.
Cooker and hood
A Rangemaster 110cm range with five induction hobs, two ovens and a grill will provide ample cooking facilities. A matching stainless steel hood will extract to the outside.
Microwave
A built-in Neff microwave will be provided at eye-level, with pan drawers under the worksurface below.
Units
The units will be finished in a matt cream colour, with handle-less doors for ease of cleaning.
Worksurface
The worksurface will be a high quality laminate with a ‘black limestone’ pattern.
Walls
The walls will be fitted with hygienic splashbacks in a pale sage colour, avoiding the dirt traps associated with tiling. Above the splashbacks the walls will be painted with a washable paint in a similar cream shade to the kitchen units. NOT RED AS IN THIS PHOTO
Ceiling
A suspended false ceiling with washable ceiling tiles will make the kitchen feel warmer and more comfortable.
Lighting
Modular 600mm square lighting panels will use warm white LEDs for bright and efficient illumination suitable for food preparation. These will be complemented by a set of dimmable warm white LED downlighters, which can used to create more subtle lighting when full illumination is not required or the kitchen is to be used as a bar area.
Heating
Two fan heaters built in at plinth level will offer flexible heating options.
Doors
The two existing doors will be replaced by a pair of double fire doors, finished in light oak and with glazed panels.
